Nate Silver's poll tracker — which blends together lots of different surveys into one running average — recently showed a modest improvement in Trump's numbers. Back in mid-July, his average sat at a rough -20.6 net approval rating (meaning disapproval outweighed approval by about 20 points), which was actually a record low for this term. Since then, that gap has narrowed a bit, suggesting his support has ticked upward slightly.
It's not a dramatic turnaround by any means — think of it as a small bounce rather than a comeback. But after weeks of steadily bad headlines, even a small move in the right direction is notable.
